Hello, my name is Teresa.

I am a second-generation daughter of immigrants from Vietnam and Cambodia. I embrace my identities as a queer Chinese-American woman, Bay Area native, truth-seeker, and rule-breaker living in between and across cultures. My deepest personal values are rooted in radical self-awareness, family, community, and social justice. Other practices that influence my work as a therapist include my meditation practice, Buddhist philosophy, movement and dance, and artistic endeavors. In my professional life, I have worked in hospitality, at non-profits, in the tech industry, and as an entrepreneur.

I bring a warm and holding presence, with a capacity for playfulness and directness when appropriate. I am competent at steadily guiding clients deeper into the unconscious, discovering meaningful insights, and finding tangible ways forward. I show up with steady patience, acceptance, and honesty.

The purpose of my practice is to help a diverse group of individuals tap into their inner wisdom to achieve a greater sense of fulfillment, connection, and liberation.

I hold a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute. My clinical approach is molded to a client’s needs in the moment, and includes psychodynamic, cultural-relational, depth, humanistic, person-centered, strengths-based, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), somatic, expressive arts, and trauma-informed.

Professional interests and areas of expertise

My professional interests and expertise are in culturally-oriented psychotherapy and issues of diversity. My master’s thesis examined the effects of internalized racism and internalized oppression on the somatic experience of Asian Americans. I have training in the Hakomi Method and the Gottman Method. I am also a trained Journey Clinical Ketamine-Assisted Therapy provider.

I have experience working with culturally diverse adults across a range of issues including cultural identity, trauma, grief and loss, career and purpose, depression, gender dysmorphia, anxiety, systemic oppression, relationship issues, non-monogamy/polyamory, and sexuality. I have an affinity for working with first- or second-generation people of color, Asian American and Pacific Islanders, LGBTQIA+ folx, interracial couples, artists and creatives, people who struggle with working in the tech, non-profit, or art industries, and spiritually-inclined individuals.
